Pound Cake: Nanoo

Family: Nanoo

3 cups plain flour
3 cups sugar (or not quite)
2 sticks margarine (not butter)
1/4 cup shortening
5 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract

Grease & flour tube pan. Sift flour; remeasure and sift again. Cream
butter, sugar & shortening together thouroughly (high mixer speed- 15
min.). Add eggs, one at a time, beating at least 1 min. between each.
Combine milk & flavorings. Add flour and milk alternately, beginning &
ending with flour (4 flour, 3 milk). Mix only enough to blend into
creamed mixture. Pour into pan. Run spatula through batter to remove
air bubbles. Bake in unheated oven at 325° for 1 hr 10 min. on bottom
rack. Take out when sides begin to pull away from the pan. Cool 10-15
min.
